about

As humans tend to live longer in this day and age, dementia is a real possibility for all of us. That dark confusion and sudden realization that you’re lost, existing in a land that isn’t quite yours, yet you clearly inhabit its space. Always feeling like you need to get back to a former time and capacity, even if its dimensions are ever blurring.

"Where am I?" is the final track on our upcoming album, Short Tales of Science Fiction and Family Dissonance, and we’ve tried musically to embody that uncertainty and bewilderment that we’ve seen family members go through in the grips of such a tortured demise.

lyrics

Wedding gift, silk tie, pearl necklaces
Grandfather clock, tick tock, hanging crucifix
Mortgage paid, blue sky, family’s on their way
Hear the chime, what’s the time, noticed something's changed

Something's changed
Something's changed
Something dark and very strange
Where’d you go
What is place, it’s not my home

Suddenly I’m all alone
How did I end up back here on my own?

Where am I? Where are you?

Bright smiles, glowing face, lovely lace dress
We’re happy, we’re safe
We’re at our very best
Don't do it, don’t screw it
Don't make another mess
With the rambling things you say
Don't ruin this perfect day
Perfect day, perfect day
But somethings changed
Something strange
Where did you go?
What is place, it’s not my home

Suddenly I’m all alone
How did I end up back here on my own?

Where am I? Where are you?

White coats, bed charts, numbers, letters blurred
Dry throat, strange pills, long forgotten words
Lost nights, morning light, vast empty space
Turn around, sun is down, I see... I see your lovely face
See your face, See your face, something wrong
You look so strange, And its all changed
When did you aged, we are so old
I close my eyes. Where did you go?
What is this place? Its not my home!

Suddenly I’m all alone
Why am I always left here on my own?

Better hurry, got to get home,
Better hurry, they’re waiting for me
Better hurry, I’ve been gone for too long
Better hurry, they may be starting too worry

Better hurry, I’m loosing the light,
Getting blurry, The dark all around me
Better hurry, because I’m loosing my mind
And I worry, I’ll never find my way
Find my way, find my way home

home, home home home home home
